"Iโve learned that love isnโt about finding someone who sweeps you off your feet in a grand, dramatic gestureโitโs about finding someone who makes the small, ordinary moments feel significant."
As a rationalist who believes in love, I agree with you, and I hope you're right.
I often rationalize and talk myself out of crushes before they even fully develop. And if you ask me, that's quite sad. Because you miss out on so much of life's magic when you don't let yourself get swayed by the small things.
But I like how you ended it. "To fall in love, but also read the fine print. To believe in romance, but also bring a backup plan. To write the love storyโbut never forget whoโs holding the pen."
Never forget that you have more power in the story than you think. After all, you ARE the main character.
i hear all of this, and i so relate! youโre totally right about us having more power in our stories than we think we do. thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and reading the piece!! glad you felt somewhat seen. ๐ซถ๐ผ๐
I can very much relate to this (having met my soulmate in airport arrivals!). It's the little moments which hold the biggest gestures. I definitely believe in soulmates, the timing and arrival of them, and what they teach and show you. Not all of it is dazzling and romantic, but the sense of understanding and being known and seen and the dance of destiny in the process is a magical sensation.
this articulated what i've been thinking about for a while! there's so much discourse out there about passionate romance vs safety and stability, but to me anything less than both is just settling. and it's absolutely possible to have both!
you are so so very much truly absolutely right? love isnโt about grand gestures. the whole grand gesture thing really overshadows the moments of vulnerability, and intimacy of small moments. love isnโt an event, itโs an experience.
exactly anya! love is in the mundane. itโs in the small glances we give each other. itโs in the moments we take for granted. i definitely agree itโs an experience - i love that. thanks so much for reading! ๐๐ซถ๐ผ xx
Iโm obsessed with this one. Here to say you can and will have it all.
